Abstract

There are countless elements that influence the constitution of a couple, highlighting the choice of object. First family organizer, this is influenced by the subjective constitution of each member of the couple and is fundamental for understanding the marital bond. Such an understanding can operate advances in therapy with couples, which is why we aim to deepen the theme. For this, we will review the literature of leading authors in the area and illustrate the discussion with a clinical vignette. We will see that, from the basic postulates of the psychoanalytic theory that underlies the clinic with couples, to think about the subjects' choices is to think about how they are articulated to their experiences and marks, mainly childhood, and how these reflect on the marital dynamics that are built.
